Over generations, humanity rebuilt itself. The shelters became massive fortified cities, new technologies were developed, and civilization slowly became stronger than before.

But Earth had changed.

Animals exposed to the aftermath evolved into dangerous creatures known as Beasts. At the same time, some humans began developing extraordinary abilities. These people became known as Awakeners.

In the present day, Awakener schools train young people to control their abilities, while elite military academies prepare Awakeners to defend humanity from the Beasts beyond the city walls.

Our story follows a teenager born long after Zero. He has never seen the Old World and has grown up believing the history taught in school: humanity destroyed itself through nuclear war.

As he prepares for the entrance examination to an Awakener Academy, his ordinary life suddenly changes when a powerful Beast breaches the city's outer defenses.

What no one knows: her father hurt his back last spring, so every night after homework she runs the family bakery's ovens alone until 2 a.m. She has decided that if she never looks tired, no one will worry, and if no one worries, nothing is actually wrong.
Renji Abe (16) — Sits by the window, barely talks in class. Every morning he folds one paper crane and leaves it somewhere in the school — a locker, a windowsill, a library book — for a stranger to find. He calls it "making sure nobody's day has a total of zero good things in it." He never signs them.
Story
Opening image: Dawn. Sora's hands, dusted white with flour, folding the bakery's shutters open. Cut to the same hands twenty minutes later, folding a hair ribbon straight, plastering on a smile as she steps into a classroom full of "Good morning, Kishida-san!"
The first act shows her holding it all together in small, exhausting ways — falling asleep for three seconds during a test and catching herself, waving off a friend's "you look pale," counting coins from the register while she should be sleeping. She's built a whole architecture of fine.
Renji notices what everyone else doesn't: the same girl who used to finish her lunch now barely touches it. One morning she finds a paper crane tucked into her shoe locker. She almost throws it away — she doesn't have room in her day for one more thing to take care of — but something makes her keep it in her pocket instead.
The middle act is built on small, glancing scenes: Renji folding cranes in the back of the classroom while Sora watches without meaning to. A rainy afternoon where their umbrellas end up under the same awning and neither of them says much, which is its own kind of relief. Sora starts finding a crane every few days. She starts, without noticing, looking forward to them.
The break: Two weeks before the school festival, Sora is supposed to finalize the class's entire event plan — on top of a full night shift because her father's pain has flared up again. She hasn't slept properly in four days. In the middle of presenting the plan to the class, her voice just — stops working. Not dramatically. Quietly. She stands at the front of the room and cannot make the next sentence come out, and for the first time all year, everyone can see that something is wrong.
She runs. Not far — just to the stairwell landing, out of sight. She sits down hard and, for the first time in the whole story, she cries like she means it.
Renji finds her there. He doesn't ask what's wrong. He sits one step below her and, without a word, starts folding a crane out of a page torn from his notebook. She watches his hands work in silence for a while.
"Why do you do that," she finally asks. "The cranes."
"Because some days the good thing has to come from outside, or it doesn't come at all." He holds it out to her. "You don't have to make your own good thing happen every single day, Kishida. That's not a rule anyone made. You made that one up."
She tells him everything then — the bakery, her father, the ovens, the counting of coins at midnight. It comes out messy and out of order and she apologizes for it, out of old habit, and he says: "Don't fold this one up neat for me. Just say it."
Resolution: She doesn't quit the bakery and her father doesn't magically heal — the story doesn't hand her a fix. What changes is smaller and more durable: she tells her homeroom teacher the truth, and the class festival gets restructured so three other students share the load she'd quietly been carrying alone. Renji starts walking her home some nights so she isn't doing the late shift in silence. It isn't rescue. It's company.
Closing image, mirrored from the opening: Dawn again. Sora's hands, flour-dusted, opening the shutters — except this time Renji is on the step outside with two coffees, waiting to help her carry the bread trays in. On the windowsill behind her, a whole small flock of paper cranes has collected over the weeks, wings overlapping, holding each other up.
Final panel, no dialogue: Sora folds a crane of her own for the first time — badly, lopsided, one wing longer than the other — and leaves it on someone else's desk before the bell rings.

Specially big biceps but not super extra. He is not tall and is only slightly taller than her. His face is kind, warm, and gentle. He wears a simple black shirt with jeans.

The story flows naturally from one moment into the next: First, they are at a colorful arcade playing Tekken together. They are both holding controllers the old school machines not controllers and completely focused on the game. She is laughing because he almost never wins, while he is intensely concentrating and determined to finally beat her. She torts at him “ahah I won again!” And he replies “just wait!”

Later, they are at home in their kitchen. He is cooking chicken curry for her while she watches. She comes up behind him and hugs him while he cooks. He asks her, “How does it smell?” She playfully smells him instead and says, “Hmm… you smell good.” He laughs and says “hey the chicken not me”

Later that night, they sit together on a wooden bridge over a large, peaceful pond beneath a beautiful star-filled sky. They sit close together and talk for hours about God, faith, and God’s love, sharing their thoughts and dreams with each other. The atmosphere is peaceful and deeply connected.

Finally, they walk home together underneath the stars, each holding an ice cream. They are still talking and laughing. He jokingly complains that her ice cream always tastes better and she says I know the best and he says it’s not fair

The overall feeling should be that these simple, ordinary moments are becoming precious memories of their life together. Very romantic, soft, warm, wholesome, intimate, playful, and nostalgic. The Girl Beneath the Stars
Ren spends most of his lunch breaks alone on the school's rooftop, sketching.
One evening, he discovers someone already there.
A girl is lying on the rooftop, staring at the stars.
Mio: "You're not supposed to be here."
Ren: "Neither are you."
She laughs.
Instead of leaving, she sits beside him.
Mio: "Then let's keep each other's secret."
Ren notices the star pendant around her neck.
That night, he sketches her without realizing it.
At the bottom of the page, he writes:
"The girl who looked like she belonged among the stars."

Shinichi Akihito commence sa première journée à Korīn, une prestigieuse école qui forme les futurs héros dans un monde moderne composé de royaumes et de personnes possédant des aptitudes surnaturelles.

Le matin, Shinichi dort trop longtemps et sa mère le réveille en panique. Il se prépare rapidement, prend un sandwich et court jusqu’à Korīn. Il arrive finalement devant l’immense lycée, impressionné par sa taille.

À l’intérieur, il se perd légèrement dans les couloirs avant de retrouver sa classe. Les nouveaux élèves sont ensuite réunis dans une grande salle où le directeur leur souhaite la bienvenue et explique que Korīn ne sert pas seulement à apprendre à combattre : les élèves doivent apprendre à protéger les autres.

En classe, le professeur principal présente les premières règles de l’école et explique le fonctionnement des cours, des entraînements et des missions. Shinichi écoute attentivement mais reste un lycéen parfaitement normal, calme et légèrement amusé par certaines situations.

Pendant la visite de Korīn, Shinichi découvre les salles d’entraînement, les terrains, la bibliothèque et les autres installations. Il aperçoit pour la première fois Aoi, une belle élève aux cheveux orange-roux et aux yeux marron qui discute joyeusement avec ses camarades. Shinichi la remarque mais ils ne se parlent pas.

Pendant la pause, Shinichi est assis seul et observe les autres élèves. Deux élèves commencent discrètement à parler de lui et de son aptitude, faisant naître les premières petites rumeurs. Shinichi ne les entend pas et continue simplement sa journée.

La journée se termine normalement avec des cours et des discussions banales entre élèves. Le soir, Lych apparaît dans le dortoir. Un autre élève lui parle brièvement du nouveau garçon aux cheveux blancs, mais Lych ne connaît absolument pas Shinichi et ne se méfie pas de lui.

二人は双子の姉妹で、麻雀の実力を競い合っている。

舞台は麻雀を学ぶ学園。
今回は授業の一環として、二人で麻雀の実技試験を行うことになった。

試験を始める前、カオスがクリアに勝負を持ちかける。
「今日の実技試験、勝ったほうが負けたほうに一つだけお願いできる」という特別ルールを提案する。
クリアは余裕のある表情でその勝負を受ける。

二人は麻雀卓を挟んで向かい合い、真剣勝負を開始する。
麻雀牌を切る手元、牌を引く瞬間、相手の表情を読む視線、点数表示など、麻雀漫画らしい演出を多く入れる。
二人の心理戦を中心に描き、単純な運ではなく、互いに相手の手を読んでいることが伝わる展開にする。

試合中盤ではカオスが優勢になり、自信満々な表情を見せる。
しかしクリアは焦ることなく、冷静にカオスの癖を見抜いている。

終盤、クリアが見事な一手で逆転する。
最終的にクリアが実技試験に勝利する。

試験終了後、カオスは「負けた……」と悔しそうな表情を見せる。
クリアは勝利を喜ぶというより、最初からこの結果を予想していたような余裕のある表情をする。

そしてクリアは、試合前に決めた「勝ったほうが一つお願いできる」という約束を思い出させる。
カオスは何をお願いされるのか警戒する。

最後のページでは、クリアがカオスを廊下の壁際まで追い込み、カオスの横の壁に片手をつく。
